Casual Volunteering Opportunity – Cheadle Heath

This is a CASUAL VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY – Just turn up on a Friday any time between 10 am and 3 pm

Friendly Fridays is a community group which meets every Friday 10 am – 3 pm throughout the year (including school holidays). It is an inter-generational project and open to all ages (vulnerable adults and children must be accompanied by supervising adults). They meet at the Rose Walker Community Centre, Essex Avenue, Cheadle Heath SK3 0JA. It is free entry drinks and snacks are 50p each. 

The room is set up like a large family lounge. With board games, arts and crafts, a library area, a kids play area, cosy armchair area and tables and chairs. The refreshments area is self serve with a honesty box. Once a month there is a lunch club available for £3 for two courses of home made food (the last Friday in every month). For the other weeks, toast, tea cakes and crumpets are served at 12.30. 

The centre itself directly backs onto a public park with a children’s play area and football pitch. There is a car park and local public transport nearby 309, 310, 312 and the 11A all stop at the top of the road. The centre is fully accessible with suitable toilet facilities. 

The group are looking for people to come and visit and have a brew and a chat with attendees, or play a board game, do some art crafting just for an hour or two. There is no training required and you don’t need to let them know in advance. You can turn up on the day and let one of the volunteers know you’re there to help they will show you around and introduce you to visitors. This is a casual volunteering opportunity.
